Proverbs 26:11
As a dog returns to its vomit,
so fools repeat their folly.
Proverbs 26:17
Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears
is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own.
Looks like it's all about dogs today.
I wonder if Jesus had a dog. Maybe when He was a boy a dog followed Him home. I'm sure a dog could sense that he would be loved and well taken care of with Jesus. I can see the dog sitting at Jesus's feet listening to Him. Or standing guard over Jesus when he was teaching. I don't think dog were pets back then. So I doubt that Jesus had one.
But it's true, dogs do return to their vomit, pee, and poop. My dogs have their same places to "be good girls" out in the yard.
A fool doesn't know that you need to do something different if what you are doing isn't working. And to grab a stray dog by the ears is definitely someone looking for trouble. Even though my dogs are very smart, they are still dogs.
Lord, thank you for dogs. Help me to not be foolish and continue to make the same mistakes or rush into a quarrel that is not mine to decide. Amen.
