To answer before listening—

that is folly and shame.

Yes it is a shame and unfortunately something I'm accused of doing often. My only excuse is that I might forget what I was going to say. 

Today my daughter accused me of not listening when she was explaining something her roommate told.  I admit my mind was on other things at the time.  

I am a work in progress and I hope to do better at this.  I should make it a New Year's Resolution.  Along with doing 20 - 30 minutes of cardio each day, eating healthy, getting up early, and not watching so much TV.  Honestly my record stinks, I better not add any more to it.  

Lord, guard my lips, help me to be a better listener so I will not be put to shame.  Help me to pay attention to what is important to You and to my family.
