John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. |
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Two times today I have been reminded that God's Word (the bible) is truth. Jesus quoted it to the devil 3 times when He was tempting Him, "It is written..." And later a preacher on TV reminded us that we need to know God's Word because we will be asked to explain it to nonbelievers and the uneducated. If they don't know, how will they believe? "Listen to Him" Pastor Kathy told us this on Sunday. Most people don't know how to 'Listen to Him." I didn't really know how to until I was taught. How can people know the joy of hearing and understanding what God has to say to them if they don't know how and take the time to listen. Ok, here's what I believe: -You need to open up your bible -You need to know what it says -You need to know who God is -You need to be with other Christians -You need to pray -You need to believe God hears your prayer -You need to be quiet and listen with your heart -You need to give God control of your life. Today is "Fat Tuesday" To me that means I eat food that is bad for me because tomorrow I will begin to honor my Lenten Promise to eat healthy with no sweets. For 30 years I have made a Lenten Promise and for 30 years I have broken it sometime before Easter. Now that I'm not Catholic I don't feel an obligation to do this but I still do. I know that Jesus suffered in the desert for 40 days and was then tempted by the devil. I believe that we are called to follow Jesus's example. If Jesus told His disciples to love one another, then we must do it. The bible is God speaking to us. Father of all, Thank You for reminding me today to take time to listen to You. I ask that You put someone in Justine, Julianne, and Jessica's lives to help them find their way back to You. Amen. |
